Lam Yeo Coffee Powder, 328 Balestier Road

What is this place about?

If you are a coffee lover this is one stop you can't miss! The aroma of the coffee here is nothing like what you would get in Starbucks, coffee bean or even good old Ya Kun stores. Lam Yeo Coffee Powder (Lam Yeo is hokkien for Nanyang) has been in business for over 50 years! They offer a range of more than 10 kinds of coffee powder all imported from Indonesia.

You should take note of the opening hours:

Monday - Friday
9am - 7pm
Saturday
9am - 5pm
Sunday and Public Holidays
Closed

What's Interesting?

The uncle we spoke to is the second generation to be in charge of the shop, he proudly told us that his son is also helping out with his business. Let's hope his grandson would continue his tradition of selling top grade coffee powder. We really are not that into instant coffee you know...

Author's thoughts

We spent quite a while trying to find this ancient (at least to us) coffee shop.

Zheng Han asked for direction from this friendly uncle who worked at the nearby equally ancient confectionery.
To our dismay, we found the shop closed for business =(

Can see how power was the sun on that day?

We didn't give up! We went back there on a Tuesday, chit chatted with the boss and took photos.
